Be the best that you can be! It's about being honest with what you have and what your capabilities are. Today's volunteer and combination fire service is faced with many challenges, especially in terms of people power and funding. Don't be embarrassed if your department is low on people or has older equipment. Just be honest with yourself and then get to work to be the best firefighters you possibly can be with what you are given. There is no reason a firefighter from an understaffed, poorly financed department can't have firefighter pride equal to any big city, big department firefighter. Host Tom Merrill talks with guest Chief Chris Thompson from Wilson County (TX) District 1 Fire and Rescue to talk about ways to be the best you can be!
